The Ajban 4x4 light armored vehicle was delivered through a defense partnership between the Maldives and the United Arab Emirates. Manufactured by NIMR Automotive — a subsidiary of Abu Dhabi’s EDGE Group — the vehicle comes equipped for missions involving surveillance, command, and communications.
EDGE Group confirmed that the Maldives acquired the vehicles quietly as part of ongoing regional support and cooperation. Their delivery to MNDF highlights the shared commitment to secure, high-performance solutions in South Asia.

The Ajban 4x4 light armored vehicle introduced in the Maldives is the 442A model, known for its combat-ready configuration. This version supports up to five crew members and can handle a payload of approximately 4,000 kilograms. Designed with a reinforced V-hull, the vehicle offers high protection against landmines and explosive devices.
It also features roof-mounted defensive systems and strong ballistic armor, making it suitable for both internal and border security operations.
Engine and Range Capabilities
Powered by a turbocharged diesel engine and a six-speed automatic transmission, the Ajban 4x4 light armored vehicle delivers 360 horsepower. It can travel up to 700 kilometers on a full tank and reach speeds of 110 kilometers per hour, enabling rapid deployment even across the Maldives’ diverse terrain.
